Tragedy in Beautiful Barcelona
Barcelona is, without a doubt, the cleanest city (of its size) that I have ever seen. I've been around the world to nearly 80 countries and when a city grows to the size of Barcelona, it's very difficult to keep it pristine (looking at you Napoli). But Barcelona succeeds where others fail.
The street cleaners in this city must be magical. It doesn't matter what happens the night before, whether it's a correfoc, a festa mayor, or a violent riot with burning garbage bins (remember this bullshit in October 2019?), but guaranteed, the next day by 6am, the city is cleaned, fixed, and ready for the day. It is simply incredible the diligence with which these streetcleaners do their jobs.
Sadly, one of these dedicated workers died yesterday due to the extreme heat wave this week. This breaks my heart because the Ayuntament should have protected her more. The loss can't be undone, but I hope the City does everything to make this right for her family.
